Hello beautiful People, my name is Nathan Rodgers and I would like to tell you about the story of my late father, Tony Rodgers significant one of kind beautiful paintings. 

Powerful and Ancestral how God created the land and waterholes through my father's paintings. My Father, who is from the Chilligoe Nth Qld [Walkaman people], he has depicted his creative art journey through his paintings using traditional symbols and colours. 

The artwork represents my father's dreaming connection to his ancestors country and his land, a stunning example of Aboriginal artistry and storytelling.

The Artist - Tony Rodgers

Tony Rodgers (Buri Wakemin) was born at Mareeba hospital on 8th October 1959 to parents Katie, (nee Davis) and Charles Rodgers.


Died 27th October 2012 at Mossman.


His story:

My people are the western KukuYalanji. My mothers country is Laura in Cape York Peninsula and my fathers country is Chillagoe west of Mareeba. I grew up with 4 other siblings in my grandmother's house in Mareeba.
I worked as a labourer on banana and tobacco farms on the Atherton Tablelands, stockman and Lime Works in Chillagoe and a tour guide to the Laura rock paintings. I played rugby league for Mareeba in the late eighties. 


My artwork depicts the animals, seasons, landscape and connection to the land of my people.
